Now, thanks to a generous gift, Arizona State University will be able to draw on the techniques of one of the nation's most innovative education initiatives.
Entrepreneur T. Denny Sanford made a five-year $18.85 million grant so the university could partner with Teach for America to improve how it selects, prepares and tracks future K-12 teachers.
"Here's this wealth of knowledge." says education college Dean Mari Koerner. "Why wouldn't we take advantage of it?"
Yet this is a bold step, because many traditional educational programs and groups have treated Teach for America as a threat.
