From Kevin Andrews:
As you know, we are mourning the loss of our beloved student Martin Richard who died during the tragic events at the Boston Marathon. He was laid to rest Tuesday during a private ceremony. A more public memorial service will occur in the future.
Martin’s mother Denise, our school librarian, and sister Jane, a Neighborhood House first grader, were injured in the blast and face a long recovery.
In these difficult weeks, our school community is finding strength in one another and in the support we have received from friends throughout the city and across the country. Thank you.
To honor Martin’s memory and his family’s involvement with Neighborhood House Charter School, we have established the Martin Richard Memorial Fund. Donations contributed to the fund will be used for one or more of the following purposes: a peace garden in the school courtyard, a scholarship fund for NHCS students, or other ideas that will be generated by the school community in consultation with the Richard family.
If you would like to contribute, you may do so on the NHCS website. You may also send a check made out to the Neighborhood House Charter School Foundation. In either case, please indicate Martin Richard Memorial Fund in the memo line.
If you would like to help the family directly, you can contribute to the Richard Family Fund, which is separately administered and not related to the school.
We thank you for keeping the Richard family and NHCS in your thoughts.
Please consider giving.
