Our New Orleans friends Matt and Neerav have a contest going. Neerav writes:
We’re looking for people who want to launch a bold new school model - one that is radically student centered – and adds additional diversity to types of school models in NOLA.
We’ve reinvented school governance down here – and want to make sure we’re equally bold in pushing new school models.
Phase 1 - Launch: Entrepreneurs participate in 4.0 Schools’ Launch program with a cohort of other entrepreneurs. They receive $5k of in-kind services, a $1k housing stipend, intensive coaching, access to students and schools for prototyping as they focus on defining their users, validation, prototyping, and developing their initial school model.
Phase 2 - Design Fellowship: Successful teams will be awarded a Design Fellowship which will allow the entrepreneurs to test and refine their school model by providing them with a $20K stipend and $10K prototyping budget per team, and access to national mentors such as Khan Academy staff to learn how schools and classrooms across the world are personalizing learning.
Phase 3 - Incubation: The teams proposing school models that have the highest potential for success will proceed to Phase 3, in which NSNO will provide funding and technical assistance throughout the charter application process and pre-launch activities.
