I'm Mike Goldstein, founder of the Match Charter School in Boston. I worked here from 1998 to 2013, and am now a board member and volunteer advisor.
(My new gig is with Bridge Academies, and I will soon have another blog that covers edu-topics in the developing world).
Match does 3 things.
1. Through good teaching and high-dosage tutoring, we help kids become first-in-family to get a college degree.
2. Our teacher prep program tries to generate jaw-droppingly-good rookie teachers for high-poverty schools. The work began in 2008 as Match Teacher Residency, and is now an independent graduate school of education.
3. We partner with high-poverty district schools, providing high-dosage math tutoring.
